An effective, loving relationship makes life so much more enjoyable for the entire household.  In this course Duncan Elliot shares a number of techniques that improve two-way communication and builds an understanding that your partner's point of view is equally as valid.  This course is an investment in your family's happiness and one that we would thoroughly recommend to other couples.

This course looks at some of the areas where we can improve our communication. Its aim is to tune up our relationship: to foster love by enabling us to understand our partner better and appreciate ways that they think and act differently from us. It looks at how we can use that to communicate our wants and needs better, and to understand what our partner is thinking and feeling. The result is that we can then negotiate common ground rather than feeling misunderstood and resentful.

This course is designed for couples, although if only one partner is able to attend, they will also benefit – as will their partner!

Be warned: this course is about how YOU can change, not about what your partner should be doing. Because of this, I work with men and women separately: I know that if I were in a mixed course I would be thinking more about what it's saying to my partner that what it is saying to me.

The course has three sessions of two hours and the structure is:

Session 1: Basic differences – Typical ways that men and women communicate differently; their different values; their different approaches; options for change.

Session 2: Improving communication – Making it safe to communicate; reconnection and parting; getting the right attitude; expressing your wishes and needs; accepting your partner's differences.

Session 3: Communicating love – T
he PACE model of communication; the love languages model; the scoring system; the minefield of giving presents.

Male/Female Communication Course

I've been happily married for nearly 30 years. We've had a great marriage and it's gone really well. But a few years ago I started to research into male-female communication. The information that I discovered wasn't earth-shattering, but I really wish that I'd learnt it 30 years ago! It would have made our good marriage even better. And so I put together this course, to share with you some of the things that I wish I'd known a long time before, so that your relationship, however good it is, can become even better!

Our primary relationship is critical to our lives. When it's working well, it can make so many other areas work much more smoothly. The central aspect of making our primary relationship work is communication. If we communicate well it brings us closer and we reduce resentment and misunderstandings.
